Edible ornamental

I'm never boldly creative enough to use vegetables as ornamentals, but I wish I could be. Today this artichoke was popping out of a country-style front garden, between the roses.

I love artichokes as ornamentals! So beautiful. And the flowers are amazing.

Gotta love those artichokes. I love their blossoms, too.

Thanks to both of you! I had never thought what the flower looked like open, but just googled it- Wow!
Seems a shame to eat the bud?
I think I might have to research whether I can fit some artichokes in somewhere... though I must confess they're my once-a-year veg: I find them so fiddly to eat (boiled, with hollandaise) that it takes me about a year to get my energy up to have another one! This year I tried eating one at the same time as eating dinner with the boys (without B) and realised that artichokes are not easy to eat when spoon-feeding a hungry baby!
